In order to build the source code you will need the following tools:

  • Required:
    • Visual Studio 2013 express or 2012 express (Used to build the C# projects for the tools)
    • NuGet Package Manager Extension (Required to download the NuGet packages used by the main projects)

In order to run tests

  • Required:
    • Microsoft SQL erver 2012 service Pack 1(SP1) Express
      • From download link above select ENU\x64\SqlLocalDb. Unit tests use LocalDB, a lightweight version of Express running in user mode as a fast zero-configuration install
      • SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe and SQLManagementStudio_x64_ENU.exe are also available. You previous 2008 SQL Express version are still compatible. But SQLCMD ran from the command line must be the 2012 version. Located here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\sqlcmd. You could download SQLCMD found in install instructions here: SQLCMD is dependant on on SQL command line utilities. But installing the full SQL Express 2012 and management studio should fix up the paths.
