Agenda

  1. Review of actions from previous meeting
  2. Framing of discussion for current meeting
    1. "Round the room" for each topic
  3. Review of decisions and actions

Framing Topics
  • How broad is the supported audience?
    • Providers/Hospitals are a given.
    • What about patients? (may have low technical capabilities)
    • What about machine-to-machine custom messages? (HL7 feeds?)
  • What minimum constraints must be placed on sending/receiving participants?
    • Tight vs. Loose coupling around content expectations (pre-negotiated vs. ad-hoc exchange)
    • One address per provider, versus multiple addresses that serve different functions?
    • What is the minimum technology that must be supported? (e.g. standard COTS email client? Web portal?)
    • Where are failures best caught? (Sender? Receiver?)
  • How much message header and/or meta-data should be required?
    • Patient/provider context and identity? (patient safety issues?)
    • Can a message refer to more than one patient at a time? One patient per attachment? Batch use-cases?
    • Patient/provider identity management – ad hoc, or XDS-like?
  • Are intermediary functions required, supported, or excluded?
    • Translation and re-packaging services?
  • Which content packaging standard(s) to follow?
    • Multi-part MIME (e.g., email model)
    • XDS DocumentEntity / DocumentSet (e.g., IHE model)
    • M/Mime extended to support XDS as (optional) MIME type?
    • Others? (hData HRF, Atom, etc.)
