Notes:

Arien Malec
· The WG issued a Call for Consensus this week on the NHIN Direct Overview document. It ends 9/8/2010.
· Thinks the WG’s new process of focusing on a few key documents each week is working.
· During this meeting will cover status updates on where those priority documents are.
· Next step is to define which documents to prioritize for this week.
· Goal of getting the NHIN Direct Overview document through the Call for Consensus, as an agreed upon, useable document.
· WG is currently focusing on getting two documents through the process and eventually at the same level as the Overview document: Two going through the early process:
o Content Security for Simple Health Transport Spec
Content Security: first pass of review was yesterday, and now he has a whole set of notes he needs to incorporate in the next draft.
Follow up meeting for Friday to review, second pass (need approx. 1 hour).
Then the spec can seek review from the larger WG.
Able to move to call for consensus, at least at the WG level, maybe at IG level, by next week.
o XDD spec
Did a first pass 08/31/10.
Follow up meeting is scheduled for 09/03/10.
Karen is working on one portion of the spec.
Group still needs to go through EBX mail metadata items to come up with a set of requirements for metadata.
High hopes that as of Friday they will be through that process, but XDD might take a little longer than the Content Security spec because there is a lot of work to do.
· Questions?

David Tao
· Question on S/MIME security spec.
· There seems to be two different security pages on the wiki: NHIN Direct Security Overview and Security Overview, with three different links to them.

Arien Malec
· Need to remove the duplicate links.
· John Moehrke created Security Overview as a way of skinny-ing down the Content Security to the bare minimum.
· Wants one spec that makes it really clear what is a “must” and what is a “should.”
· “Must” section of Content Security should be identical to Security Overview.

John Moehrke
· Doesn’t have wiki administrative rights, so can’t rename a page.

David Tao
· Temporary confusion; are there actually two different efforts?

John
· No, there are only two documents but they are titled in a way that is not obvious.

Arien Malec
· -->Can rename the pages.

John Moehrke
· Should be this committee’s decision whether or not his process is the right process.
· Was asked to create 8 page trimmed down overview, so that is what he has done.

David Tao
· Seems like more of a spec while the other is more of a narrative.

John Moehrke
· Exactly. It is a naming issue, only.

Arien Malec
· As we move things from in progress to final artifacts we can clear up names and labels.
· There are currently 2 Priority One documents that aren’t in the formal review process.
· There are also a number of Priority Two documents.
· What should the WG focus on next?

Round the Room on next documents to focus on
Result: WG members agree to stay the course and continue focusing on security-themed documents.

Arien Malec
· Challenges that the proposed security documents are very technical and would likely be given to people who are already busy with the specs.
· Are there other documents the WG could focus on, and is anyone else willing to step forward to own those?

Round the Room on alternative documents to focus on
Result: WG determines need for a Deferred Policy Questions guide.
This guide would be developed in collaboration with the Implementation Geographies WG as they generate policy concerns for the pilot projects, going forward.

Arien Malec
Meeting Wrap-up
· -->Janet will serve as owner of Deferred Policy Questions guide.
· -->David, Parag, Andy will act as contributors.
· -->ONC team can help schedule focus meetings for the next week.
· -->Goal to move the Deferred Policy Questions guide to consensus by next week.
· Focus group members can decide their own schedule to meet this goal.

  • Other goals for next week:
    • -->Aim for final consensus for content security at WG level
    • -->Good working draft of the XDD spec
    • -->Consensus ready doc of policy considerations.
    • -->Consent from IG on NHIN Direct Overview document.

Round the Room on if everyone is OK with the goals.
Result: Everyone agrees with the goals for the week.

Arien Malec

  • Feels WG has a good plan for the week with documents in place for completion.
  • Thinks WG will take meaningful chunk out of the Documentation and Testing WG to-do’s over the next week.
