What We’re Part Of:
Implementation Group
Our Goals: The goal of the Content Packaging Workgroup is to:
- Understand tradeoffs between simple packaging (e.g., multipart MIME) and sophisticated metadata (e.g., XDS metadata)
- Handling self-describing structured information (CDA/CCR/CCD, HL7v2, etc...)
- Handling non self-describing information (text, PDF, etc...)
- Handling related (e.g., text + CCR for a referral) and unrelated (e.g., send three referrals to a cardiologist).
- Understand content responsibilities of sender and receiver
- Alternative 1: Fail at the receiver, handle failure out of bound
- Alternative 2: Receiver registers what he/she accepts, fail at the sender’s enabling organization
- And other alternatives
- Explore the minimal interface needs for receivers accepting transactions, e.g., associating data with unknown patients, handling HL7, CDA, and unstructured data
- Enable (but not require) content translation as a value-added service
