- The October Code-a-thon's mail goal is to serve as both an Install-a-thon and an Integration-a-thon
- Discussed during the Reference Implementation WGmeeting earlier today
- Mutual end-to-end testing of reference implementations

Documentation and Testing WG

- Reported that it was a quiet week for the Documentation and Testing WG
- Asked the Security and Trust WG look at the Direct Project Security Overview
- Indicated that the Documentation and Testing WG is currently addressing the Deployment Modelsdocument
- Will look at this further during the October Code-a-thon
- Recognized there is a larger SHALL document
- Stated her main goal is to certify that everything has been done correctly

- Indicated that he has been chipping away at his own items
- Stated that the quality and amount of work that he has seen is truly outstanding
- Remembered that he had requested WG leads to share "blog posts"
- WG leads in particular

Implementation Geographies WG
Paul Tuten
- Reported that the Geographies WG has been discussing next steps
- Recognized that some dependencies remain:
- Project management resources
- Solicited resources from those willing to donate
- State that would be immensely useful
- CONNECT software updated to support Direct Project
- Grant funding
- For those that are not commercial organizations
- Project management resources
- Indicated there is the WG Call for Consensus for Certificate Pilot Recommendations

- Raised question about state-level HISPs

- Responded that the general policy recommendations/guidelines from the Privacy "tiger team" were adopted by the State HIE panel

Best Practices
David McCallie
- Stated that he missed the meeting
- Shared that there have been a number of e-mail exchanges on the Best Practices for HISPs
- Tried to adopt recommendations from the HITPC's Privacy "Tiger Team" concretely for the Direct Project
- Arien Malec took the lead in developing it, but has been passed around
- Recognized there is currently one objection to it right now

- Added that they held a number of rounds last week
- Will work iteratively through it until there is no dissent
- Applauded the Best Practices WG for working expeditiously in a short period of time
Security and Trust WG

- Recognized that Sean Nolan is the lead, but has been busy
- UPDATE: Umesh Madan taking over for Sean Nolan
- Shared that the WG is focused on three areas:
- Putting together a proposal for the XDR and XDM for Direct Messaging specification
- Sent two documents for review by the Security and Trust WG
- Certificate Pilot Recommendations Discussion
- Taking it and either simplifying or making it more complex based on need
- Direct Project Security Overview
- Certificate Pilot Recommendations Discussion
Communications WG
Rich Elmore
- Reported that his WG has been planning a larger event once the pilot projects are running
- Arien Malec will touch base with the HIT Standards Committee
- Simultaneously planning a series of high-level blog posts
- A new website for those that are not as involved in the project
- Developing "vignettes" for the pilots, reference implementations and best practices
- To make them more accessible/understandable
